- ESS Notes
Where solar batteries are installed within dwelling units, or attached garages, the ESS shall be protected by a smoke detector.
Where smoke detectors are not permitted to be installed, there shall be a listed heat detector installed. CRC R327.7
Please provide a listed heat detector for the ESS being installed in the garage where the battery will be installed.
Do not place ESS units in attached garages unless a sprinkler system is already installed and connected to the smoke alarm system.
No current alternatives are allowed. Indicate an additional disconnecting means when the ESS is not within sight of the connected equipment and or not in sight of Utility meter
Battery spec sheets must demonstrate compliance with UL9540 Multiple ESS Units:
Provide manufacturer specs that call out the separation distance required between ESS units.
When ESS is not in line of sight of MSP ESS disconnect required within line of sight of Battery on same wall and not blocked by walls/gates/etc
An additional disconnecting means shall be adjacent to the ESS, when not within sight of the connected equipment."

If relocating MSP, indicate original location as well as proposed location of new MSP.
Make sure chimney does not obstruct fire access pathways
- Roof Plan
ALL JOBS:
- Provide proposed location of conduit run * CONDUIT SHALL RUN ALONG THE BOTTOM OF LOAD BEARING MEMBERS. * Conduits to be located as close as possible to an outside wall to reduce trip hazards.
- Conduits between arrays shall be installed to minimize the amount of conduit on the roof.
- Avoid placing the conduit run through a fire setback/fire access pathway (unless it is specified that the conduit is being run internally)
- Patio covers cannot be included when calculation area of roof coverage.
EXISTING SYSTEMS:
- Include roof array coverage calculations for existing and new PV combined
- Roof Plan Notes

- For MPUs: indicate the rating of the existing MSP on plans. New panel shall be rated 225A or higher Surge protector required for MPU. Call out SPD on plans.
- For Derates: Include a photo of the panel to verify load calcs.
