AHJ is VERY STRICT on fire setbacks. We can follow 2015 IBC with 3' on all rakes and ridges + 18'' on each hip and valley. Plans reviewer is a former fire fighter and declined to budge on this interpretation of the fire code.
When roof elevations (not planes) are not interconnected, the percentage of coverage shall be listed separately for each elevation. Please calculate percentage of coverage for each roof section separately when they are not interconnected. Example: Aurora Solar
AHJ IS VERY STRICT WITH SETBACKS. MUST MAKE SURE LAYOUT WILL 100% FIT AT TIME OF CONSTRUCTION REVIEW/DESIGN BEFORE MOVING FORWARD. ALL REVISIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED, MOD SWAPS NEED TO BE SUBMITTED IF PANEL COUNT/LAYOUT CHANGES. IF LAYOUT CHANGES AT INSTALL, WE MUST SUBMIT FOR APPROVAL BEFORE CONTINUING WITH INSTALL.
Pathways cannot have obstructions in the way, ex. chimney
systems located outdoors shall be separated by a
minimum 5 feet (1524 mm) from the following:
1. Lot lines.
2. Public ways.
3. Buildings.
4. Stored combustible materials.
5. Hazardous materials.
6. High-piled stock.
7. Other exposure hazards.

- ESS Notes
ESS Location & Clearance Requirements
- Position ESS at least 5' away from all property lines and lot lines
- Maintain minimum 3' separation between ESS and all doors, windows, and openings
- Verify ESS placement does not conflict with fire department setback requirements (reference applicable code sections such as 1204.2.1.2 for arrays covering 33% or more of roof area)
- Prohibit ESS installation in basements unless the basement has an approved egress opening
ESS Documentation Requirements
- Provide labeled elevation view(s) of ESS location showing spacing and separation from all doors, windows, property lines, structures, and other equipment as required by applicable codes
- Include accurate elevation drawings showing all windows, openings, and distance measurements to ESS with minimum 3' clearance documented
- Verify documentation matches photo evidence for opening locations
- Interior battery installs must show smoke detector location/rating as well as the fire rating of the proposed room.
- Ensure GIS-verified property line locations are accurately reflected in all ESS placement documentation
- CALL OUT BOLLARDS IF SUBJECT TO VEHICLE DAMAGE
- Separate ESS Disconnect Required

Battery cannot be within 5' of property line. Please dimension AC Disconnect to the property line when it is not obvious at first glance.
Ticket #2865926 (ESS Location) ESS systems located outdoors shall be separated by a minimum 5 feet (1524 mm) from the following:
1. Lot lines.
2. Public ways.
3. Buildings.
4. Stored combustible materials.
5. Hazardous materials.

7. Other exposure hazards.
- Roof Plan
- Include roof area calculations. Only include roofs with modules in the roof area calcs.

Line Side Taps
- Breaker tie in is preferred. Line side tap ONLY if necessary to avoid MPU.
- Remove ground wire between disconnect and MSP
- Bond the neutral in the AC solar disconnect when performing a line side tap installation (NOT in the main house panel)
- Clearly show the neutral bonding location in the AC solar disconnect
ALL EGC MUST BE A MIN OF #8 STARTING FROM THE ROOF TO THE POI
SE batteries: POI needs to be listed as “feed through lug kit” in the MSP.
