The solar panels are not allowed to be installed in the front 25-foot setback. If the panels cannot be relocated to the roof or rear yard, then a BZA Variance will be required to allow the panels to be 12โ from the front property line, instead of 25โ.
In order to request an exception from any of the Zoning Code area requirements, a Board of Zoning Adjustment Variance is required, here is the link to the BZA application form: https://www.columbus.gov/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=69113. The BZA process takes 2-3 months on average. $350
