Please Complete the Oregon Fire Setback Checklist before you complete your aurora design.
All solar roof planes MUST have 36โ pathways along 3 sides of the roof plane. Pathways cannot be over unsupported areas like overhangs and eaves - Pathways must start from the load bearing wall. The following exceptions below allow us to avoid having 3 pathways on each plane:
- Total array area is not greater than 1,000 sqft and it has an intersecting adjacent roof plane free of solar panels.
- If #1 applies AND total array area does not exceed 25% of roof area that the array is on, then one 12โ pathway is required along each side of the horizontal ridge.
- If #1 applies AND the total array area exceeds 25% of total roof area that the array is on, then one 12โ pathway is required song each side of the horizontal ridge AND one 36โ pathway from ridge to eave shall be provided.
Pathways are not required on non-occupied accessory structures, provided that they are separated from occupied structures by not less than 60 inches or by a minimum two-hour fire-rated assembly. When using this exception, please include a dimension of the shortest distance between the array building and the nearest occupied structure.
Pathways are not allowed within 12" of low point valleys.
Pathways cannot straddle ridges/hips
Additional information and examples of acceptable fire setbacks can be found in the files below.
