R324.6.8.1 Pathway requirements. All photovoltaic installations shall be provided with pathways not less than 36 inches (914 mm) in width along not less than three sides of the solar roof plane. The bottom edge of a roof plane with a slope greater than 2 units vertical in 12 units horizontal (2:12) shall not be used as a pathway. All pathways shall be located over a structurally supported area and measured from the edge of the roof and horizontal ridge to the photovoltaic array or any portion thereof.
