ESS Disconnect A disconnecting means shall be provided for all ungrounded conductors derived from an ESS and shall be permitted to be integral to listed ESS equipment. The disconnecting means shall comply with all of the following: The disconnecting means shall be readily accessible. The disconnecting means shall be located within sight of the ESS. Where it is impractical to install the disconnecting means within sight of the ESS, the disconnect shall be installed as close as practicable, and the location of the disconnecting means shall be field marked on or immediately adjacent to the ESS. The marking shall be of sufficient durability to withstand the environment involved and shall not be handwritten. The disconnecting means shall be lockable open in accordance with 110.25. For one-family and two-family dwellings, a disconnecting means or its remote control shall be located at a readily accessible location outside the building. Disconnecting Means for Isolating Photovoltaic Equipment Disconnecting means of the type required in 690.15(D) shall be provided to disconnect ac PV modules, fuses, dc-to-dc converters, inverters, and charge controllers from all conductors that are not solidly grounded. Notification and Marking Each ESS disconnecting means shall plainly indicate whether it is in the open (off) or closed (on) position and be permanently marked "ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM DISCONNECT." The disconnecting means shall be legibly marked in the field to indicate the following: Nominal ESS ac voltage and maximum ESS dc voltage Location Isolating devices or equipment disconnecting means shall be installed in circuits connected to equipment at a location within the equipment, or within sight and within 3 m (10 ft) of the equipment. An equipment disconnecting means shall be permitted to be remote from the equipment where the equipment disconnecting means can be remotely operated from within 3 m (10 ft) of the equipment. Where disconnecting means of equipment operating above 30 volts are readily accessible to unqualified persons, any enclosure door or hinged cover that exposes live parts when open shall be locked or require a tool to open.

Plan Set Requirements

Please include photos of the main service panel as part of the plan set. Per AHJ website they are following the Expedited Permit Process for PV Systems. Include distributed weight of array on plans. All wind speeds are 3-second gust at 33 feet above the ground. Residential 115 mph. Commercial ( See IBC figures 1609.3 ( 1-4 ) Please note that SLCFD requires a visible, readily accessible, _exterior_ , disconnection means. NEC 230.70 . Please show this requirement on the 3 line diagram and site plan. Please provide the dimensions of fire access and pathways on a roof plan per the requirements IFC 1204 wind speed - snow load Utah does not want single panel arrays with railless systems. Please have layout changed if this happens If the project falls within a Historic District, a Certificate of Appropriateness is required from the Planning Department

Main Breaker can not locate interior, It needs to be on the exterior wall. Provide photos of MSP on plans Engineering not required. Visual confirmation of existing panel rating and cross-reference with the 3-line diagram will suffice. NEC705.12(B)(2)(3)(b) states that where there are two power sources, the grid, and the solar inverter, the sum of their breakers cannot equal more than 120% of the busbar rating of the breaker box.
