Tap Criteria

All Taps/Meter Adapters

  • If utilizing a Meter Adapter/ConnectDER for install, the meter has to be ringed meter, or the utility will trigger MPU.
  • For Load-Side Taps, Line-Side Taps, and Meter Adapters: Use both an Unfused and Fused Disco
  • The NG Bond needs to be called out and clearly labeled within the SES, MSA and Fused Disconnect
  • Utilize ConnectDER block for meter adapter
  • Include ConnectDER model number to SLD. Model number details are needed for initial application submission.
  • Meter socket # must be one of the following: C-B-5-22-40, C-B-5-22-60, C-B-5-22-80
  • Conduit between Main Panel and Service disconnect needs to be labeled RMC/ LFMC not EMT.

Line Side Tap Requirements

  • Do not perform line side taps on manufacturer installed feeders (CSEDs, Meter Mains, Etc) these require permission from the manufacturer or a UL field evaluation.
  • Line side taps and Hoffman taps are allowed on detached/separate equipment (meter socket with field installed conductors to the separate main panel/load center)
  • The conduit between the SES and fused service disconnect must be RMC for a supply side tap.
  • GEC should start at the grounding electrode to the fused disconnect used for the OCPD to the line side tap (irreversibly crimped to the GEC that goes to the existing main panel)
  • Fused disconnect should show a ground / neutral bond
  • GEC to Fused disconnect to be run outside of the conduit (do not include in the wire/conduit call out from the tap to the fused disco)

Site Plan Reqs
  • Please match all equipment labelling shown on ELD to include the APS required labels and include equipment Make/Model. See ELD Notes Below for additional info on label requirements for the different configurations.
  • BOS Equipment cannot be behind gates, under patios, breezeways, under a carport, or other area that can be enclosed with building expansion or fence.
  • The BOS Equipment must be installed on the same wall
  • BOS Equipment shall be located 3 feet min to 6 feet max on the front corner of the residence. Must be located AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE to the front of the home
  • If the project requires a fused disconnect for a TAP, it must be within 10ft of the service entrance
  • Call out ALL fences and gates
  • If no fences or gates surround the property, add this note: “NO FENCES OR GATE · SURROUND THE PROPERTY”
  • If there is an inside fence blocking access to BOS Equipment, label the perimeter/property line fence as “GRANDFATHERED PERIMETER FENCE”. Only a fence that surrounds the entire property can be considered a grandfathered perimeter fence.
  • If we are installing equipment on an H-Frame, we must clearly label it as such on the site plan. Create a leader to the equipment saying “EQUIPMENT TO BE INSTALLED ON H FRAME PEDESTAL”
