Net Excess Generation Notes

Any Excess Energy produced by the Member-Generator and supplied to the Cooperative's system shall be valued based upon the Avoided Cost of electric power purchased by the Cooperative. The valuation shall be the Bonneville Power Administration's wholesale power rate for the Cooperative (but may be superseded by other rates).

If the energy purchased from the Cooperative is less than the energy supplied to the Cooperative, the Member shall be billed for the appropriate monthly charges and shall be credited for such Excess Energy at the Avoided Cost rate determined by the Cooperative to be representative for the period in which the Excess Energy was generated.

Electric Service Reqs

System Sizing:

1. In California, the facility shall be designed to offset Member’s requirements and rated up to and not more than one (1) megawatt. A Member-Generator may request to aggregate meters under the Cooperative’s net metering program. Such request will be considered as described in the Cooperative’s Policy 402.2. The size limit of the Member’s average annual load (up to 1 MW) applies to the Member’s premises. Aggregation may not be used to increase the size limit for the facility.

2. In Oregon or Nevada, the facility shall be designed to offset the Member-Generator’s requirements, and rated for up to a maximum output capacity of twenty-five (25) kilowatts.

Install Reqs

All wiring, pole lines and other electrical equipment beyond the metering point shall be considered the customer's distribution system, and shall be furnished and maintained by the customer. The typical single-family residential service consists of transformer pole service wire and a 200-amp (maximum) meter base installed on the house. If more than 200 amps is needed, contact them.

Requirements: A. A riser of minimum 2-inch diameter rigid steel electrical conduit.

B. Minimum 18" leads from weather-head to SVEC service wire.

C. Weather-head installed on top of the riser conduit.

D. Meter base, main breaker

E. California: One 8-ft ground rod. Oregon: Two ground rods spaced 6 feet apart.

CA: Make sure to match yearly usage as closely as possible. The Utility doesn't want to pay for overproducing, or to have HO reduce system size.

OR: Maximum allowable system size is 25kW.

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with SVE - Surprise Valley Electrification Corp before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
