Net Excess Generation Notes

Net-metering is the process whereby energy usage and generation is resolved. This is an automated process through YVEA's revenue meters. For any generation above a given month's usage, the Producer will retain a credit and this credit will be applied to their next months bill. At the end of the calendar year, the Producer will be paid at the current rate for any generation above their usage of the previous year.

Plans & docs

Site Plan Reqs
  • IN the plan set, include the Data and calculations for determining PV system size (historical usage, new loads, anticipated PV system production)
  • Site Control Documentation required, this can either be the the installer contract with utility bill owner -or - or the county record with a Parcel ID that shows the members name on it, that also matches the interconnection application. Typically, the county record is a google earth overview with the Parcel ID/description overlaid on top.
  • For site diagram, include relative location of generator, inverter (if applicable), AC disconnect switch, utility revenue meter, main service panel, and transformer.
  • Please provide a document that will fulfill this requirement: Operational Testing Procedure: This should show what we should expect from the inverter when we simulate a grid outage.
SLD Reqs
  • Production meters not required
  • For one-line diagram, include lengths and sizes for all conductors, maximum power rating for generator, ratings of interrupting breakers, DC and AC disconnects, ratings of inverters (if applicable), distance of inverter from utility meter, any applicable protection (relays, etc.), and other components when applicable.
  • IF distance between inverter and meter is greater than 50 ft., Voltage calcs required.

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with Yampa Valley Electric Association before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
