Net Excess Generation Notes

The customer’s revenue meter will read the import of electrical energy (kWh) from Dalton Utilities and the export of electrical energy (kWh) from the customer’s generation facility. At the end of each billing cycle, the two readings will produce a single net energy value (kWh).

If the resulting net energy value is positive, indicating electric energy imports were greater than electric energy exports, the cost of the net electric energy imports will be calculated based on the customer’s existing electric rate tariff.

If the resulting net energy value is negative, indicating electric energy exports were greater than electric energy imports, the additional energy supplied by the customer may be purchased at an avoided cost determined by Dalton Utilities. Dalton Utilities may continue to purchase power from the customer at the above mentioned avoided cost until Dalton Utilities’ purchased power is equal to 0.2% of the previous year’s peak demand, at which point power may continue to be purchased from the customer at a separate rate agreed upon by the customer and Dalton Utilities.

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with Dalton Utilities before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
