Net Excess Generation Notes
  • For customers purchasing energy from ComEd at fixed-prices, net metering credits are measured in kWh and used to reduce energy supply and other kWh-based charges. Net metering credits carried over from prior billing periods can be used to reduce future energy supply and other kWh-based charges until the end of the annual period specified on the Net Metering Election Form.
  • For customers purchasing energy from ComEd at hourly prices, net metering credits are based on the price of power during the hours excess energy is produced and are reflected as a monetary credit on your energy bill.

Tap Criteria
  • Lineside Taps are approved inside meter cans for PV-Only projects (We cannot tap in the meter can on battery projects, unless it uses a Tesla Backup Switch)
  • Meter can needs to be an 8" x 12" size in order to house the tap
  • Taps also allowed on underground pedestal-style meters
  • If the meter can is ringed, or if it is a stand-alone meter with no can, a meter upgrade will be required. If we replace the meter can then it needs to be ringless

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with ComEd - Commonwealth Edison Co before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
