The following charges and credits will be added to the member’s monthly bill:

Supplemental Monthly Basic Facility Charge: $2.91

Credit for energy delivered to the Cooperative: 5.0¢ per kWh

The monthly minimum bill for members receiving this service shall be no less than the Basic Facility Charge in the residential or commercial rate schedule with which this rate is used, plus the supplemental Basic Facility Charge as stated in this schedule, less any credits for energy delivered to the Cooperative’s system.

The Cooperative will furnish, install, own, and maintain metering to measure energy (kilowatt-hours) delivered by the Cooperative to the member and the energy delivered from the member to the Cooperative.

On the Net Billing Rider, the member pays 10 cents for all kwh consumed off grid and receives 5 cents for all kwh sold back

On the Net Metering Rate, the member pays about 9 cents per kwh and receives 9 cents per kwh for all excess generation

Site Plan Reqs

A visible, lockable external disconnect switch which clearly indicates the renewable system is in an “open” or “closed” state is required and must be located adjacent to the renewable system metering point and accessible to Cooperative personnel at all times.

SLD Reqs

A one-line diagram (see sample diagram) must be included with the interconnection request that shows the location of the disconnect switch and location of the meter(s).

A manual AC disconnect switch must be mounted within 5 feet of the meter base. A one-line diagram must be included with the interconnection request that shows the location of the disconnect switch and location of the meter(s).

Electric Service Reqs

Stand-alone" renewable systems (not associated with an existing metering point) will be allowed up to 200 feet of new “service drop” (the Cooperative's secondary voltage wiring located between the transformer and metering point) at no additional charge. When secondary service length beyond 200 feet is required and/or if primary voltage wiring is required to enable the interconnection, an aid to construction charge will apply and must be paid for in advance prior to the Cooperative’s service installation. (Note: Members will be advised of any applicable aid to construction charges once the interconnection request has been approved and the Cooperative's engineering staff has assessed the installation).

Install Reqs

Inverters must be UL 1741 listed and labeled as “Utility Interactive.” Also, a manual AC disconnect switch must be mounted within 5 feet of the meter base. Prior to submitting your application for interconnection, verify your system’s permitting and inspection requirements with local governmental agencies having oversight and jurisdiction at your location.

A visible, lockable external disconnect switch that clearly indicates the renewable system is in an “open” or “closed” state is required and must be located adjacent to the renewable system metering point and accessible to Cooperative personnel at all times. A permanent label must be attached to the switch as well.

Blue Ridge will NOT schedule a final inspection, perform a test of the inverter, and install the meter until the local building and/or electrical inspector has approved the installation and a copy of their report has been provided to the Cooperative. You should also be advised that several counties (Ashe and Watauga) in the service area require a wind system permit prior to construction.

The Member has no right to operate in parallel until a witness test has been performed or previously waived on the Application. The Cooperative is obligated to complete this witness test within 10 Business Days of the receipt of the Certificate of Completion. If the Cooperative does not inspect within 10 Business Days, or by mutual agreement of the Parties, the witness test is deemed waived.

Placards

The switch must be labeled "Generator Disconnect Switch.” The switch must isolate the Interconnection Member and its associated load from the Cooperative's System or disconnect only the Generator from the Cooperative's System and shall be accessible to the Cooperative at all times. Inverters must be UL 1741 listed and labeled as “Utility Interactive.”

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with Blue Ridge Energy before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
