Load Justification Form (LJF) Requirements

  • Required if less than 12 months of usage is available.
  • Designers: Complete the appropriate LJF (based on house type) and upload it to the LS files section.
  • All LJF forms must be stamped by an engineer. Send completed forms to staff for review and stamping.

Additional Notes

  • For Level 2 projects (over 10kW AC), the load calculator must be sealed by a PE.
  • To qualify for net metering, system capacity cannot exceed the customer’s annual electric use (100%).
  • PV systems cannot be sized based on estimates or future use unless verified by a PE.

Plans & docs

Site Plan Reqs
  • The Address on the plan must match the Utility Bill.
  • For all level 2 projects (10 kW AC or above), NJ LJF to be completed and stamped by a PE, See files section for document
SLD Reqs
  • RGM inverter is required
Electric Service Reqs
  • A disconnect switch may be required depending on the size of the installation. It is recommended to be installed on both sides of PSE&G metering for most installations. For Solar Loan Projects, Disconnects are required on both sides of the Utility Meter - Inverter, Production, or SREC.  
  • Ringed meter sockets need to be replaced with a ringless 5th jaw meter socket
Install Reqs
  • AC disconnect to be installed outside, as close as allowable to existing utility meter, and be fully accessible 24/7 (not behind locked gate etc.)
  • Meter Aggregation NOT allowed for residential projects. "Remote Net Metering is only for public entities such as State entity, school district, county, county agency, county authority, municipality, municipal agency, or municipal authority"
Placards
  • For residential service, minimum size is 4” x 4” for Commercial service minimum size is 10” x 10”
  • Sign must indicate “Customer Owned Parallel Generation” and location of the safety disconnect
  • Sign must be either YELLOW with BLACK lettering, or Red with WHITE lettering
  • Location is a minimum of 8’ from grade level and within 2’ of the service point of attachment or service pipe.
