If it is a third party installation, you are allowed to install at 110%. Customer owned systems do not have a size restriction.

System size is calculated based on the last 12 months of electric usage at the address. If it is new construction without 12 months of history, questions will be presented to determine allowable size.

Site Plan Reqs
  • Utility Meter to be shown on site plan
  • A/C disconnect to be located directly next to the PPL meter
SLD Reqs
  • One-line diagrams must show that a RS-485 or Ethernet communications port will be open and available for PPL’s use. The text words 'open and available' must be used.
  • For the one-line diagrams for installations using Enphase, Generac or SunPower inverters, please include details noting any required communication device (such as the IQ Envoy)
  • This utility requires the line diagram to reflect how the inverters will be networked together whenever there are more than 1 inverter. Please see attached from the utility for networking inverters.
  • Utility requires inverters to be UL1741SB certified. For SolarEdge, see files section for spec sheets
  • Accepted POI methods: breaker tie in, tap in tap box. Tap in MSP not allowed.
Install Reqs

A customer-generator facility used for net metering shall be equipped with a single bidirectional meter that can measure and record the flow of electricity in both directions at the same rate. A dual-meter arrangement may be substituted for a single bi-directional meter at the Company’s expense.

PPL meters are compatible with net-metering. We do not have to change the meter.

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with PPL Electric Utilities before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
