System Sizing (Incentive Projects ONLY)

- To be eligible for an incentive payment, the output of a solar system (in PV Watts) must be at least 80% of estimated annual usage. Installations which do not meet the minimum performance threshold will not receive an incentive. Prorated incentives are not available.

Site Plan Reqs
  • EXTERIOR EMERGENCY DISCONNECT REQUIRED ON ALL PROJECTS PER NEC 230.85
  • AEP only requests to see where the AC Disconnect is located in relation to the existing meter.
  • AC Disconnect is required to be within 3FT of the AEP Meter.
  • Please label the AC Disconnect as fused/ non-fused
  • We need a minimum 2" clearance on each side all electrical equipment.
SLD Reqs

ALL JOBS

  • PV Panels -> Inverter -> AC Disconnect -> MSP -> Utility (AEP) Meter
  • Split PV Systems not allowed. 
  • Please label the AC Disconnect as fused/ non-fused
  • 200A EXTERIOR EMERGENCY DISCONNECT REQUIRED ON ALL PROJECTS PER NEC 230.85. DISCONNECT MUST SHUT OFF ENTIRE HOME (MBE WILL SUFFICE)
  • AEP specifically wants an AC DISCONNECT SWITCH as the EMERGENCY DISCONNECT (EVEN IF THERE IS AN MBE, MBE by itself does NOT suffice as an emergency disconnect. example: [GW-AC DISCONNECT-MBE-UM] OR [GW-AC DISCONNECT-UM]
  • ACDC must always isolate DER from utility - sub panel needs to be behind the ACD on the SLD

Battery Jobs

  • DISONNECT REQUIRED BETWEEN MID AND POI
  • PV Panels -> Inverter -> AC Disconnect -> MID-> AC Disconnect -> POI
  • Battery system label required on the meter..

Existing Systems

  • New and existing systems must connect behind a single AC disconnect.
  • Split PV Systems not allowed. 
Electric Service Reqs

SERVICE MUST BE 200A MINIMUM TO INTERCONNECT SOLAR. MPU IF LESS THAN 200A

  • AEP has own set of placards
  • Placards required from when AC disconnect not within LOS of utility meter. supplemental Terms & Conditions must be added to the agreement
  • Line Side Tap require a placard installed in the utility meter.
