(a) The purpose of this section is to set the annual energy rate that the city will reimburse for energy generated by an authorized distributed generation (“DG”) system that is interconnected to the city's electric system and in parallel operation with the city's system and which exports energy to the city. (b) Energy exported by a DG system will be measured monthly by a city electric meter. (c) The city will reimburse customers that export energy to the city's electric system based on the city's annual avoided cost of generation from the previous calendar year. (d) The formula for calculating the annual avoided cost of generation rate (“ACGR”) is as follows: ACGR = Annual generation costs (from monthly wholesale power invoices) for 12 calendar months in a calendar year / total energy purchases in that same period.

The City encourages customers considering the installation and interconnection of DG system to “right-size” these systems. A good rule to consider is to size DG systems at not larger than 30% of the premise (residence or business) peak demand.

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with City of Llano before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
