Net Excess Generation Notes

There will be no netting of energy (kWh). All energy (kWh) generated by the Member’s qualifying facility during the billing period, not consumed instantaneously by the Member, and delivered back to the Cooperative, within the billing period, shall be credited to the Member at the Cooperative's Avoided Cost defined as the prior year average wholesale energy and fuel component, provided by the Cooperative’s wholesale power supplier.

If credits for excess energy are greater than the Member’s monthly bill, the credit will be carried forward to the following billing period. If a credit balance remains in an excess of $250 at the end of the calendar year, a refund of the entire credit balance will be provided to the Member.

Plans & docs

Site Plan Reqs
  • The disconnect and production meter must be within 10 feet of the utility meter. It should be installed outside and should always be easy to access. If there is not enough space within 10 feet of the utility meter to house all the proposed equipment, a variance can be requested. A variance request will delay the project timeline.
SLD Reqs
  • Sample line diagrams in files section for all types of projects. Please review.
  • TVEC does not allow ring-type PV Meter base. All meter bases must be a lockable lid style no ring type.
  • Utility account number is required
Electric Service Reqs

Install Reqs
  • TVEC does not allow ring-type PV Meter base. All meter bases must be a lockable lid style no ring type.
  • Install the Production meter base and all alternate source disconnects at a height between 4 feet and 6 feet above the finished ground level. Measure from the finished ground to the center of the equipment.
Placards
  • All disconnects, and the production meter base must have permanent identifying labels, such as “Battery Disconnect, Solar Disconnect, Production Meter.”
  • The utility meter base must have a permanent label that states “Caution: Multiple Sources Of Power.”
  • Placards (Minimum size 5”x 5”) must be installed within one foot of the utility billing meter and one foot of the source disconnects. The placards must contain a complete aerial layout of the site and equipment, giving specific directions to the location of all alternate source disconnects and the production and utility billing meters.

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with TVEC - Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
